Is Your Anger Out of Control?
Gen 4:3(NAS)--So it came about in the course of time [Lifes events, can change everything]
that Cain brought an offering to the LORD of the fruit of the ground.
4 And Abel, on his part also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of their fat portions.
And the LORD had regard for Abel and for his offering;
5 but for Cain and for his offering He had no regard [respect, favor] [Felt rejection]
So Cain became very angry and his countenance fell. [Countenance reveals state of heart]
6 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? [Angry because of your sin;
And why has your countenance fallen? or angry because of others sins?]
7 "If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? [Basic Principle: Maranatha]
And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; [Pride (family) of lions]
and its desire is for you, but you must master it [rule over it]."
[Prov 16:32--He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city. (NKJ)]
[Prov 25:28--Whoever has no rule over his own spirit
is like a city broken down, without walls. (NKJ)]
8 And Cain told Abel his brother. [Talking yourself into a rage]
And it came about when they were in the field, [First murder]
that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him. [Feel anger rise up in your soul]
9 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?"
And he said, "I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?"
[Deliberate murder, followed by a deliberate lie]
[Impudently (presumptuous) asks God a brash question]
I Jn 3:11--For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another,
12 not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother.
And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother's righteous.
13 Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you.
14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren.
He who does not love his brother abides in death.
15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer,
and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. (NKJ)
Jude 1:11(NKJ) -- Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain,
have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.

I. The Danger of Hell Fire:
Matt 5:21(NKJ)--"You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not murder,'
and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.
22 "But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother
without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Raca!' shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be in danger of hell fire.
23-24 "Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar,
and there remember that your brother has something against you,
leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way.
First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

than to capture a fortified city. His anger shuts you out like iron bars. (TLB)
Prov 22:24-25(NIV)-Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate
with one easily angered, or you may learn his ways and get yourself ensnared.

Prov 18:6-7(NKJ)---A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calls for blows.
A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
[A fool gets into constant fights. His mouth is his undoing! His words endanger him.(TLB)]
V. Anger Causes Impulsive Actions:
Prov 14:29--He who is slow to wrath has great understanding,
but he who is impulsive exalts folly. (NKJ)

therefore stop contention before a quarrel starts. (NKJ)

Prov 30:33--For the churning of milk produces butter, and pressing ( twisting, wringing ) the nose brings forth blood; so the churning of anger produces strife. (NAS)
VII. Anger is a Rejection of Wisdom:
Prov 17:27-28--He who restrains his words has knowledge,
and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding.
Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is considered wise;
when he closes his lips, he is counted prudent. (NAS)
Pro 19:11--The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger,
and his glory is to overlook a transgression. (NKJ)
